Hydrogen Chloride Absorbency

Hydrogen chloride, along with ammonia gas, is a major cause of bad odours in the home – especially from kitchen waste. Sumi Ball was found to be highly effective in absorbing hydrogen chloride.

Method:

Each column (25 mmØ x 115 mmL) was filled with 60 ml filter sample. Hydrogen chloride gas of an initial density 500 ppm was blown in at 500 ml per minute. The density of the gas at each outflow (the leakage density) was measured and the absorption rate was calculated.
